JOINT reigning champions Trinmar Hatters will be the first conventional band on stage for the South-Central Panorama Finals today at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
They will be followed by the other joint holders, Tornadoes. Petrotrin Deltones will play in position number three.
The draw for playing positions was made at the San Fernando City Corporation Conference Room, Harris Promenade, in the presence of Pan Trinbago officials and representatives of bands and the media.
There are eight bands in the finals for conventional bands and four in the Single Pan category.
Yesterday, zone president Withfield Weekes said this year’s production,which begins at 7.30 p.m., is called “Celebrating with Steel” will be a tribute to the unsung south pan heroes.
He said the show will portray panorama from the old days to the present.
The actual programme will start with “From then”, featuring a monologue by Deborah Jean-Baptiste Samuel, followed by the Akhenaten Dance Theatre Company, accompanied by tamboo bamboo, traditional steelband and moko jumbies.
Superblue will perform during the interlude.
Then comes the Traditional Steelband competition, followed by “To Now”with a junior steelpan soloist and entertainment by Big B.
Awards will also be presented to Trinmar Hatters, Bertram Kellman, an old time panman by the name of Driller and a post humous award to Errol moore.
Weekes said after the presentation the Conventional Bands competition will take place with the bands being introduced by masqueraders from various bands in San Fernando.
