Interview Recorded: April 22, 2006
For the preliminary round of the Pan in the 21st Century 2K6 Competition, bands were judged as in previous years, in their communities. We interviewed some of the key people within the bands about the competition, their history and other activities in the steelband arena. We spoke with Mr. Michael Antoine, Captain of Tamana Pioneers.
TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Antoine, what song is the band performing this year?
MICHAEL: This year we are going with "Hotel California". The song was arranged by our Master Arranger, Paul Campbell.
TRINBAGOPAN: How has this year been for you all?
MICHAEL: We had a good year. We came fifth in the Panorama finals, 'Small Bands Category'. We know we will do good in this year's Pan in the 21st Century because we have a wonderful tune.
TRINBAGOPAN: The band has a lot of young people. Do you have any advice for the young people out there?
MICHAEL: I just want to tell the young people to stick with the program. Stay away from drugs and crime because at the end of the day the one who is doing it will be the loser.
TRINBAGOPAN: Thank you.
