For the preliminary round of the Pan in the 21st Century 2K6 Competition, bands were judged as in previous years, in their communities. We interviewed some of the key people within the bands about the competition, their history and other activities in the steelband arena. We spoke with Mr. Lynde La Borde, Vice Captain of Curepe Scherzando.
TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. La Borde, what song is the band performing this year?
LYNDE: The band will be performing "Night Shift" by The Commodores.
TRINBAGOPAN: Who is the arranger?
LYNDE: Mr. Gary Raymond is the arranger.
TRINBAGOPAN: Could you tell a bit about the band?
LYNDE: Well, the Mount Hope Junior Secondary School is the National Under Sixteen Champions for 2006 Panorama. They came here and worked with us. We kind of incorporate them into the band for this competition and I think they are doing a great job.
TRINBAGOPAN: What are your future plans in terms of working with them?
LYNDE: There are a lot of steelband programs for them. They are young and energetic. They need that kind of exposure. Right now we are looking at doing a fashion show.
