For the preliminary round of the Pan in the 21st Century 2K6 Competition, bands were judged as in previous years, in their communities. We interviewed some of the key people within the bands about the competition, their history and other activities in the steelband arena. We spoke with Mr. Roger Williams, Captain of Pandemonium.

TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Williams, what song is the band performing in this competition?

ROGER: We chose a song by Luther Vandross, "Never too Much".

TRINBAGOPAN: Who arranged the tune?

ROGER: The tune was arranged by Kwasie Paul, a resident member of the band.

TRINBAGOPAN: Could you give us a brief history about the band?

ROGER: This is where we have reached in three years time. When we came back, the band didn't have anything much. In 1992 when they evicted us from the land, we gave the pans to the schools in the neighbourhood. We decided to stay with what we had and build from there. The children we have here are more or less affiliated to an old member of the band. We have children from as far as Barataria, Maraval, Cascade, Morvant and Belmont.

TRINBAGOPAN: Do you have any final words?

ROGER: It's all about the children and keeping them in order. They are really dedicated. I really like them. I do not think we could have reached this far without them.

TRINBAGOPAN: Thank you.
