For the preliminary round of the Pan in the 21st Century 2K6 Competition, bands were judged as in previous years, in their communities. We interviewed some of the key people within the bands about the competition, their history and other activities in the steelband arena. We spoke with Mr. Dave Clement, Treasurer of Birdsong.
TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Clement, what song is the band performing this year?
DAVE: The band will be performing "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow.
TRINBAGOPAN: How has this year been for Birdsong?
DAVE: Very good, though not successful in the Panorama.
TRINBAGOPAN: Could you tell us a bit about what's been happening with the band?
DAVE: Things have been good for the band in terms of preparations for the Panorama this year. Even continuing the stage side, and practice leading into this competition. We hope to be successful in this competition because the members have been coming out to practice. Things seem to be looking up for Birdsong.
