Pan Down Memory Lane
Lloyd Cooper of Uni Stars
Staff Article
Interview Recorded: April 20, 2006
For the preliminary round of the Pan Down Memory Lane 2K6 Competition, bands were judged, as in previous years, in their communities. We interviewed some of the key people within the bands about the competition, their history and other activities in the steelband arena. We spoke with Mr. Lloyd Cooper, Captain of Uni Stars.
TRINBAGOPAN: Mr. Cooper, what is the band's tune of choice for the competition?
LLOYD: Our tune of choice is "Besame Mucho". All the players love it.
TRINBAGOPAN: How long has the band been in existence?
LLOYD: We have been in existence for about twelve years now, but this is our seventh year in the competition.
TRINBAGOPAN: What plans do you have for the band this year?
LLOYD: Our plans are to practice and work hard throughout the year.
TRINBAGOPAN: Could you share some of your successes with us?
LLOYD: Out of the seven years, we made two preliminaries. After that we made it in the semis and we also made one finals last year with the song "Jean and Dinah" by Sparrow. We kind of fell short on that but we are going to make sure that mistake will not happen again in the future.
TRINBAGOPAN: Thank You.
